February 26, 2010 -- As part of New York City Transit’s modernization program to rehabilitate selected substations, Transdyn was selected to upgrade the control system for Jay Street Substation, the tenth substation to be upgraded by Transdyn under the program. The system is based on redundant DYNAC® SCADA servers located at the Authority’s Power Control Center and redundant Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) installed at the substation.
Using DYNAC®, operators will more efficiently monitor and control distributed power equipment and traction power operations at the substation. The state-of-the-art system will provide the Authority with enhanced safety and more in-depth alarming and reporting capabilities.
Transdyn is delivering the PLC control system, associated HMIs (Human Machine Interface), and I/O for the Jay Street Substation.
New York City Transit provides transportation to more than 2 billion riders annually and operates as part of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, the largest transit system in America.
