Transdyn to Maintain Intelligent Transportation Systems for Holland Tunnel, Lincoln Tunnel, and George Washington Bridge

January 14, 2010 -- The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has awarded a contract to Transdyn to provide maintenance for the Holland Tunnel, Lincoln Tunnel, and George Washington Bridge Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) for a 3 year period. The contract will allow continued successful operation of the systems that allow The Authority to manage traffic at the vital facilities and approach-roads.

Transdyn is performing scheduled on-call, preventative, and corrective maintenance of the central computer system, DYNAC® software, PLCs, communication systems, and video incident detection systems at the three facilities. Also, maintenance of ITS devices such as tag readers, vehicle detectors, highway advisory telephones, dynamic message signs, and roadway weather information will be included in the contract.

Transdyn designed and built the ITS systems for all three facilities that enables the Port Authority to reduce congestion, improve emergency management and facility security, and maximize the throughput of the tunnels and bridge.

The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey operates and maintains infrastructure critical to the New York/New Jersey region’s trade and transportation network. These facilities include America’s busiest airport system, marine terminals and ports, the PATH rail transit system, six tunnels and bridges between New York and New Jersey, the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan, and the World Trade Center.
