VDOT Awards Transdyn DYNAC® Software Maintenance Contract for Hampton Roads Transportation Operations Center

December 15, 2009 --Transdyn was awarded a two year contract with a three year option by Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) to provide DYNAC® software maintenance for the Hampton Roads Transportation Operations Center (HRTOC). The HRTOC relies on DYNAC® to manage one of the largest regional intelligent transportation system networks in the country, spanning over 800 lane miles of roadway.

As part of the agreement, Transdyn will ensure optimal system performance by providing maintenance and production support, after hours on-call support, on-site administration, and software enhancements.

Transdyn designed, developed, integrated, and commissioned the HRTOC traffic management system that manages more than 2,700 field devices and over 71,000 yearly incidents located in Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, Suffolk, Portsmouth, Newport News, and Hampton, VA.

The system reduces congestion and increases motorist safety by integrating and automating various traffic management functions such as vehicle monitoring, reversible roadway, incident detection, incident management, motorist advisory, and traffic surveillance.

VDOT is responsible for building, maintaining and operating the state's roads, bridges and tunnels and has the third-largest state-maintained highway system in the country.
