Cobb County, GA Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition System
Owner:
Cobb County Water System
Location:
Marietta, GA
Project Description:
The Cobb County Water System is a major utility responsible for water distribution, wastewater collection and treatment, storm water management, and solid waste disposal services for Cobb County, GA. The Water Services Department treats thirty billion gallons of wastewater collected through 2,300 miles of sewer lines running throughout this fast growing county.
Under a prime contract, Transdyn built a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System (SCADA) that manages the collection system which transports wastewater from retail and wholesale customers to four major wastewater treatment facilities.
Redundant SCADA servers and distributed workstations located at the Operations Center, Administration Building, and each of the four plants manage thirty-four vital lift stations located throughout a 350 square mile service area. PLCs monitor and control each remote station. The remote controllers are programmed to provide both supervisory and stand-alone control of each station. The remote controllers communicate with the servers over a sophisticated radio system.
