Claude H. Dyal Water Treatment Plant
Owner:
City of Cocoa, FL
Location:
Cocoa, FL
Project Description:
The City of Cocoa, FL provides water to Kennedy Space Center, Patrick Air Force Base, Cape Canaveral and a large part of Brevard County in addition to it’s own 20,000 residents. The expansion of the Claude H. Dyal Water Treatment Plant increased the capacity of the plant to over sixty MGD. To accomplish this, the city blended ground water with surface water in the Taylor Creek Reservoir.
Transdyn provided a complete turnkey instrumentation and controls system package. The project consists of replacing portions of the plant's existing SCADA control system with GE's iFIX software. This provided for expanded plant control in addition to allowing for future plant expansions. Remote sites were integrated into the system through a network of fiber optic and dedicated land-line communications. On-site SCADA integration and systems controls include raw water pumping and storage, flocculation, filtration systems, and chemical treatment dosage control.
