Project Description:
The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) owns and operates the Gateway Toll Plaza on the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-76) approximately 1 mile east of the Pennsylvania-Ohio state line. Each year, more than 8 million travelers utilize the Gateway Toll Plaza to enter and exit the Keystone State.
In order to reduce congestion and incidents caused by the 22,000 daily vehicles, the Commission awarded a contract to Transdyn to furnish and install the ARMS-GTP (Automated Real-Time Message System—Gateway Toll Plaza).
The system provides traveler information and warnings to motorists nearing the toll plaza of congestion and allows the PTC to monitor conditions on the approaches to the toll plaza.
