Los Alamos National Laboratory is a Department of Energy (DOE) laboratory managed by the University of California. Located in Northern New Mexico, Los Alamos works to provide national security. The Laboratory applies its experience in defense science and technologies to ensure the safety and reliability of nuclear weapons and to protect our nation against terrorist attacks involving radiation, chemicals, biological organisms, and the disruption of crucial infrastructures.
Transdyn was awarded a project by Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) to furnish and install electronic signs, video surveillance, and a video database interface system.
The system remotely monitors Laboratory facilities and property through the use of video surveillance and has recording and archiving capability. The system also provides information to personnel via dynamic message signs located at strategic roadway intersections throughout the lab’s facilities. This allows appropriate action be taken during conditions of inclement weather, traffic congestion, fire danger, or emergency situations, ensuring the safety of LANL workers and the general public who are in LANL work areas.
CCTV cameras were installed on existing meteorologic & communication towers and are interfaced to the DYNAC ATMS® system via microwave Ethernet radios. In addition, dynamic message signs were installed at various key intersections and communicate with the system via leased line telephone connections using the NTCIP sign control protocol..
