Wyckoff Water Treatment Plant SCADA System
Owner: Cobb County-Marietta Water Authority
Location: Acworth, GA

Cobb County-Marietta Water Authority (CCMWA) is dedicated to providing safe drinking and fire protection water to its utility customers and the community. CCMWA strives to deliver reliable, quality service, while preserving and protecting our water resources. The Authority has worked with Transdyn over the last ten years to provide mission critical control systems for their Quarles Water Treatment Plant, Quarles Raw Water Pump Station, Wyckoff Water Treatment Plant, Wyckoff Raw Water Pump Station and remote distribution sites.

In the 1980’s, the Authority created a Water Supply Master Plan that detailed methods for handling increased treatment demands prompted by population growth of the service area. As part of the Authority’s overall master plan, work began in 2008 at the Wyckoff Water Treatment Plant to provide a plant-wide and remote sites automation system. CCMWA tasked Transdyn with system design through installation services, HMI configuration, and a fiber optic network to equip the Authority with a safer and more effective SCADA system solution for monitoring and controlling plant operations and ten remote sites.

Recently, Transdyn was selected to expand the Wyckoff WTP SCADA System. The system expansion is being delivered as part of a project to rehabilitate the plant and prepare it for new federal regulatory compliance. The rehabilitation project will include new treatment basins, a chemical building, and a granular activated carbon (GAC) facility to ensure the plant continues to provide clean drinking water and fire protection.

Transdyn is providing SCADA, HMI, and historical database modifications, PLC configuration, programming, instrumentation, and improved reporting capabilities to integrate and automate the new equipment and processes into the existing plant SCADA system. The system enhancements modernize the plant’s water treatment technology, decrease plant downtime due to maintenance tasks, and enable more efficient operation of the facility.

The Transdyn project team is working closely with CCMWA to ensure daily operations of the WTP and water delivery services are undisturbed while system improvements are being delivered.
